Alternative development environments

In addition to the recommended Qt SDK development environment, we offer MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan Platform SDK and MADDE command terminal as alternative development environments for Harmattan applications.

Harmattan Platform SDK

If you are already familiar with Maemo application development, you can use Harmattan Platform SDK to develop native applications and system-level components for Harmattan. It is most suitable for developing platform components and features, but you can also use it for creating applications for Harmattan devices. Harmattan Platform SDK is based on a Scratchbox cross-compilation environment.

MADDE command terminal

MADDE is a software cross-compiling environment for application developers to design and implement software for Harmattan devices. MADDE also provides a command-line interface, MADDE terminal, that can be used to develop applications.
